A Sports Centre Built for More Than Sport

Two Worlds. One Field.

The North Coast Sport Centre is not a building project. It is a bridge.

For too long, children growing up within ten minutes of each other have lived in entirely separate worlds — shaped by access, postcode, and circumstance. One world has manicured estates, private schools, and elite training academies. The other has potential, grit, and hunger — but little infrastructure to channel it.

Sport changes that.

What We Are Creating

North Coast Sport Centre will be a world-class, community-accessible sports facility in Umhlali, KwaZulu-Natal. It will serve schools, clubs, and families across both ends of the North Coast’s social spectrum — creating a genuine shared space where talent meets opportunity, regardless of background.

Phase by phase, we will build:

  • A FIFA-quality artificial turf pitch with floodlighting
  • Professional change rooms and ablution facilities
  • Coaching and mentorship infrastructure
  • A long-term sports academy campus
  • Community gathering and development spaces

The Principles Behind the Project

Access — Sport should not be a privilege. Every child on the North Coast deserves access to quality facilities and coaching, regardless of where they were born or what their family earns.

Unity — The greatest long-term threat to this region is not poverty or inequality alone — it is separation. When people never share the same spaces, they never build the same future. Sport is one of the few things powerful enough to bring people together across the divide.

Development — A pitch without programming is just grass. The North Coast Sport Centre will be built around a long-term development model that supports coaching pathways, school partnerships, youth academies, and mentorship programmes.

Sustainability — This centre will be designed to generate its own revenue through facility hire, events, and corporate partnerships — ensuring it remains active, maintained, and accessible for generations.

Community ownership — This is not a top-down project. From inception, the North Coast Sport Centre has been shaped by the communities it will serve. The vision belongs to the people of Umhlali, Shakaskraal, Ballito, and the broader North Coast.

Why Sport?

Sport is one of the most powerful social tools in the world. It builds discipline, teaches teamwork, rewards effort over inheritance, and — most importantly — it puts people in the same place at the same time, doing the same thing. It equalises.

A child from Shakaskraal lining up alongside a child from Ballito on the same pitch, coached by the same person, aiming at the same goal — that is not just a football match. That is the future being shaped.
